It has been exactly a year since I received the first rough copy of “Mahabharata for Kids” in my hand. It was formally launched a week later (July 4, 2013). Today, I am thrilled to announce that the book has crossed the 1500 copies sold mark. I did not anticipate hitting this goal until Deepavali this year. As you can imagine, I am totally blown away by the continued support for the book. In fact the digital sales are slowly but steadily trending up.
I regularly hear from parents and educators about how simple and easy it is to use the book as an introduction for Mahabharata for young kids. That was the first and foremost reason I wrote the book and it is heartwarming to see it meet its original goals. Most recently, this is what I heard from someone who picked up 10 copies for her family and local kids study group-
“Very nice book and the way in which the story is very carefully told is really appreciable . These copies are worth giving as prizes to our children in Residents Association for the reading competition to be held tomorrow as part of World Reading Day Celebrations. Sir I would like to translate these in Malayalam and publish. Though I know all these stories, I never knew how it could be simply told like this without revealing the cruelty, revenge etc.”
In the process of buying and gifting the 1500 copies, you awesome readers have contributed over Rs.50,000 towards various charitable causes which makes it doubly awesome. When I hear from my dad about the various kids and charities who are benefiting from the sales of the book and will continue to do so, it is incredible.
Last but not the very least, I have heard from a lot of you about my next project. I didnt want to commit to a next project until I sold 1500 copies of my first one. Now that the milestone has been successfully reached, I am happy to announce that there will be second book that I will be working on. I have a few ideas and a lot of helpful suggestions. I will pore over material and ideas and make a decision soon. Stay tuned to know more about it.
In the meantime, if you still have not picked up a copy of the book, what are you waiting for?
Thank you all for making this something beyond my wildest dreams. And as always, remember that with every book bought, you are making a difference in the lives of many!
I will leave you with an infographic for the 1500.
