Fifty Shades Darker: Book Review

See my review of Fifty Shades of Grey here.So yes, I did end up reading the second part of the Fifty Shades trilogyby E.L.James. As with most multipart books, even if the first one is average, the second one is a default read. Unless of course the first one sucked. In this case, the first one was definitely interesting enough that by the end I had decided to launch myself on to the second book. My paragraph long review follows but if you want me to cut to the chase, here is the one liner on it. Better than the first one. This one actually has a plot. There are very minor plot spoilers below - specifically if you haven't read the first book.When we finished the first part, Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey are definitely interested in each other, atleast in the bedroom but not sure of where to go from there. The story picks up pretty much a few days after the first one. To me, this clearly showed that the author had written up atleast the first part with the second in mind or split a larger story appropriately. Things start getting steamier and faster with the second part. A villain is introduced (surprised me) and all characters from the first book reappear. There is definitely a semblance of a plot - something the first one almost lacked. The first one is like watching the first week of a soap opera. The characters are introduced as are their relationships without much plot development. The second one is more like a soap opera trying to salvage falling ratings by introducing multiple story points that can all be developed into a reasonable climax in the concluding part of the trilogy.Just as I was with the conclusion of the first book, I am invested in the story enough to warrant reading the final book, Fifty Shades Freed. For this, I will give the author credit. For a series that is short on real writing talent and filled with a novice writer's cliches, it is definitely saying something.
