A New Chapter

Today is Vijayadashami, the tenth and final day of Dusshera. It symbolizes many things but in the context of the post, I want to talk about its cultural significance in the South of India where I come from. Vijayadashami is an auspicious day for learning and the day of Vidyarambham or commencement of studies. People of all ages pay their respects to Saraswati, the God of knowledge, learning and education by spending a few minutes learning new things. This could be a new song from their music teacher, a new chapter in the book, and these days, a new line of code to seek the blessings of Saraswati for a year of bountiful and profound learning.

Goddess Saraswati, as imagined by Raja Ravi Varma.

I have been extremely fortunate over the years to learn from some of the best in engineering, product development and product management to build and grow my career, first as an engineer and later as a product manager. These mentors have guided me in making hard and bold choices when I struggled to make them. They coached me for my next role and helped me build expertise and ultimately thrive. They have also been incredible sounding boards to bounce my crazy ideas and I am immensely thankful for it.

Today, on this auspicious day of Vijayadashami, I am looking to pay it forward by helping mentor, advise and grow the next generation of product builders. I have been doing it ad hoc for many years and now seems like a good time to make it formal. If you want to learn more, lets hop on a call and talk. You can find more details here. Lets do this together.
